For this winter animal series I worked with black and white drawings representing the whiteout effect of a harsh Canadian winter. I liked the idea of capturing this whiteness, and the suggestion of it’s inhabitants in simple ink drawings. This stark backdrop also highlighted for me the intense gaze of each of these animals that invited further inquiry into their experience. This of course reveals pressing environmental and commercial challenges to each of these animals.
